BEFORE 1930
In the middle of the 18th century the game cricket was introduced. In a magazine called ‘sporting intelligence’ clearly mentioned that in India, cricket was played in a city called Sylhet. The place is now called Bangladesh. The people who started playing cricket in India were called as Parsis, a group of educated people. In 1848 oriental cricket club was started by Parsis boys. Then the Hindus took the game and their main aim was not to fall behind the Parsis. Then in 1866 Hindus created a club called ‘Bombay Union’. There were many other clubs in India namely Gowd Saraswat Cricket club, Maratha cricket club etc. At first, matches were played between the clubs. There was no council exists exclusive for cricket at that time. Later on in 1928 BCCI have been formed. The expansion of BCCI is Bharat Cricket Council of India. Later on, matches were played according to the order given by BCCI. The matches include international matches also.
